Tribute Portfolio Welcomes DeCamondo Galata, a Historical Hotel in the Heart of Istanbul

Istanbul, Türkiye – November 2022 – Tribute Portfolio, the growing collection of characterful, independent hotels from Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International's extraordinary portfolio of brands, travel programme and experiential offerings, is set to make its debut in Türkiye with the opening of DeCamondo Galata, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel in the heart of Istanbul.

Set across two buildings, DeCamondo Galata, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is located in the very heart of Istanbul's historical city center, in the vibrant Galata neighborhood. Both buildings, DeCamondo Galata House Building on Felek Street and DeCamondo Galata Banque Building on Bankalar Street, offer guests a unique experience to discover the hidden gems of Istanbul while being immersed in the local community.

Owned by the prominent European aristocrats, the Camondo family, during the late 1800s, the hotel features 95 stylish guestrooms and suites, designed with an unexpected blend of modern luxury and vintage charm. Reflecting the historical architecture of buildings built in the 1800s, the guestrooms are urban yet inviting, with soft lighting and exposed brickwork.

DeCamondo Galata Buildings

DeCamondo Galata House Building and Banque Building were owned by the Camondo family, the prominent European family of Jewish financiers and philanthropists, during the late 1800s, with historic touches evoking the Camondo family spirit and providing authentic ambiances. True cosmopolitans, the Camondos had their principal home in Istanbul in the early 19th century. They contributed to the construction of a financial district in the city, and DeCamondo Galata's two beautiful historical buildings in the Galata region are also works of this period. House Building was the mansion of Abraham Salomon de Camondo (the great father of the family) and Banque Building was the business center of the family and other tenants.

Food & Beverage

DeCamondo Galata is very rich in eating and drinking options, mixing tasty food, good ambiance, incredible scenery and entertainment in 3 different restaurants and 1 coffee corner.

Moise Karaköy – named after the prominent Camondo family member Moïse de Camondo, our restaurant offers some of the best traditional Turkish cuisine. Moise Karaköy is a rooftop restaurant in the DeCamondo Galata House Building; with its distinctive modern and sophisticated style, it promises a unique atmosphere to its guests. When the historical story of the building and its impressive Istanbul city view from the terrace are added to delicious traditional meat cooked over a charcoal fire and served with marvellous appetizers, a unique experience emerges. The restaurant serves an all-day menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and offers indoor or outdoor seating. Every Tuesday and Thursday night there are DJ performances, and every Saturday night live acoustic music.

The authentically decorated Vigneron Wine House is on the basement floor of DeCamondo Galata's House Building (on Felek Street), serving a rich menu of local and international wines accompanied by the finest cheese boards, charcuterie boards, tapas and pastas. The restaurant opens every day at 2 pm for lunch and dinner and offers guests a highly distinctive and sophisticated wine house concept. With solo acoustic music and saxophone performances every Friday and Saturday, Vigneron Wine House is a favourite not only of hotel guests but of everyone in the city.

Nissim Restaurant – named after Lieutenant Nissim, son of the prominent Camondo family member Moïse de Camondo, our restaurant Nissim is located on the rooftop floor, with a modern, elegant and sophisticated atmosphere and a scenic terrace view of the magical lights of Istanbul. Nissim Restaurant can be enjoyed at any time of the day, with the bartender's special recipe cocktails and the chef's delicious cuisine. Mainly inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, our skilled chefs showcase their talents with fish dishes and tapas prepared with the best-quality seasonal and fresh ingredients.

Brew Coffeeworks Galata – the new branch of Brew Coffeeworks, one of the most beautiful and popular coffee shops in Istanbul, has opened on the lobby floor of DeCamondo Galata's Banque Building. Brew Coffeeworks is the best place to grab a cup of coffee and get ready for a hectic day in Istanbul. Take away or stay in: the freshest bakery products, sandwiches and desserts are ready for you throughout the day.
