Istanbul

Spice Bazaar

Located in the Eminönü quarter of the Fatih district, it is one of the largest bazaars in the city.

The vaulted main hall of the Spice Bazaar

The Spice Bazaar, known in Turkish as Mısır Çarşısı, was built in the 17th century as part of the New Mosque complex at Eminönü, on the far side of the Galata Bridge.

Under its vaulted roof, stalls sell spices, dried fruit, nuts, teas and Turkish delight. The streets around it continue the market, with food shops and small workshops.
